Ciudad de Mexico Day 1

We flew with both kids for the first time to visit Mexico City at the end of February. We took an early (but not too early) morning flight from Tijuana, after parking our car on the U.S. side, and arrived in Ciudad de Mexico late afternoon. This was our first time flying out of TJ, but it was relatively convenient, and the plane tickets were significantly cheaper.

Our AirBnb was situated in the Condesa area, and conveniently located just downstairs were multiple convenience stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and numerous food carts. We bought some craft beers at the 7-11 downstairs, settled in, then moved on into the tacos.

Taqueria D’Iguala featured tacos de canasta for pocket change, and also had some pretty good adobada tacos. We hit this place up multiple times between the members of our party within the first 24 hours, because it was so convenient. Everest tried some adobada from here as her first Ciudad de Mexico taco experience, and of course liked them.

Later in the evening, we went to Restaurante Bar Montejo, where we enjoyed mole and more tacos. We sat out on the sidewalk, which made for a nice dining experience in the cool, early evening air. The chicken mole was excellent. I ordered a plate of tacos with pork and dogish, mostly out of curiosity (never had dogfish) and because it was a restaurant special. The tacos were ok, but not as good as the cheaper, street variety. Everest was very excited about all the new foods and enjoyed trying everything.
